Purelements: An Evolution in Dance, Inc. is seeking Teaching Artists for it's Project AIRE program for the upcoming 2010/2011 school year. We are currently accepting resumes in the disciplines of Dance, Music, Theatre/Spoken Word, Visual Arts and the sub-genres within each ie . Visual Arts - sketching, painting, Mask Making, Graffiti, Cartooning, film making, African, Hip-Hop, Ballroom, Salsa, Stepping, etc.

Project AIRE (Artistic Influence, Revitalizing Education) is a New York City based arts in education program designed to use multiple art forms to enhance literacy and influence community involvement. In collaboration with NYC Dept. of Education administrators our teaching artist implement a customized arts curriculum designed to effectively serve the school's population. While following NYC's Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts and the NYS Learning Standards for the Arts, Project AIRE residencies offer introductory yet comprehensive training in Dance, Theater, Music, and the Visual Arts.

We are seeking talented and engaging individuals who work well with youth, parents and school administrators. A Purelements teaching artist should be able to use their life and professional artistic experiences to enhance the lives of their students in and outside of the classroom.


Requirements - A Purelements teaching artists should:

-have at least three years experience teaching students in urban city schools

-have at least three years experience as a professional artist in the field they are applying for

-be at least 21 years of age

-have a HS diploma or it's equivalent and at least 1yr. of college experience

-be highly organized and have basic computer experience

-be able to commit to working from September thru June

-be willing to work in other boroughs, even though most of our programming is currently in East and Central Brooklyn

-be amiable to fingerprinting and security clearance by NYC Dept. of Education

-Optional - have a video recording of themselves teaching, interview or any video showcasing their work. (youtube and other video hosting site links are acceptable)

Additional Qualifications:
Each applicant should have completed at least one year of college.

We are looking for some help from an illustrator. Children's books are about to change - big time. The world has pretty much gone digital overnight: young children are texting, touchscreens are everywhere, and Up has replaced Little Mermaid as the kid's movie of choice. And yet children's books are exactly the same as when I was a child. It's time for that to change. That’s why we’re creating a children’s book for the iPad.

We are looking for an outstanding, self-motivated illustrator who feels that change coming and wants to be a part of it. We need someone who is creative, resourceful, and has a passion for their profession, craft and visual voice.

Experience will be critical too. You must be someone who loves children and loves illustrating for them. Any digital and animation experience is a plus, but not necessary. You should also be comfortable working alongside an animator who will bring your images to life. Additionally this a relatively aggressive time line. We do not want to compromise quality of the illustration but we are looking for someone who is comfortable working quickly.

If you are interested, please send us a portfolio of past illustrations, your availability over the next few months, and an estimation of how much you would charge for:

* 20 pages of storybook, 1 cover, and 1 credits page. Each page is 1024 X 768 pixels and will include several layers of illustrations from the artist, including characters, scenery, and background. Illustrator will work with us on layout and typography.
* App icon. Every app in Apple’s app store has an icon, and we want you to make ours.
* Promotional materials. We will need 3-4 illustrations for the website, as well as some illustrations for a small promotional mailer. We will also be making a short promotional video, and we’ll need you to illustrate for them.

Looking for a motivated and committed film student (or other person interested in Feature Films) to assist our Writer/Director on set during a 20 day film shoot. The internship would be unpaid, 5 days a week, and at least 10 hours a day while working with and around the Director of a Feature Film starring A-List Talent. The job starts September 7th and goes until October 8th (M-F).

Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain scheduling, phone calls, meetings and e-mails
- Perform administrative duties as assigned
- Assist the Director off and on set
- Making runs, driving, and picking up necessities around the city
- Researching

Qualifications:
- Available to work 50-60 hours a week until October 8th, 2010
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Valid driver license with good driving record
- Ability to multi-task and to work in a high pressure, fast-paced environment
