Hi. I'm looking to have someone help me create a brochure to represent a coaching process that I have created. The brochure needs to be ready for printing (hi res) and also ready to be placed on my website (lo res) - there will be a combination of words and pictures: I want the brochure to be both professional looking and also creative. I'm thinking it might be created in InDesign, but I'm not sure. I need someone who knows these compatibility issues and also has a good sense of design. Visual appeal is extremely important.

I will consider either freelance people just getting started or students who are in need of an internship project or a class project and who have access to the software they need to get it done. I will pay a stipend. We can talk about the pay.

I am seeking a Java tutor to help me prepare for and ace the SCJP exam, and to help me to prepare for tech interviews in mid-October. I have already been doing self-study for approximately 6 weeks, but am having difficulty with certain concepts and principles. I am also having difficulty with confidence. I have a programming background in COBOL. I mention this only to make the point that I already have experience in the field. That being said, Java is a very different language than COBOL, and I have become overwhelmed and very nervous about the exam. Since my deadline is looming quickly, I need someone who could spend a couple of hours a week with me to intensively cover the remaining material and help me to really grasp and develop skill in coding.

This weekend, a local client will be doing a remote build of servers in your area. We are tasked to provide local technicians willing to be on call from 4:00PM this Saturday afternoon until noon on Sunday. I am a baseball writer/researcher looking for a database programmer available for occasional (more or less weekly) small jobs. Strictly freelance, no geographic requirement (you can live/work anywhere), and generally projects will not be very urgent. We don't even need to meet as long as you can show me that you are:

* a baseball fan, interested in advanced statistics
* fluent with SQL database queries
* familiar with common baseball data sources (eg: Retrosheet, Baseball-Databank)

If you are very good there may be opportunities for other work too.

I just have to comment on the large number of 'Intern' and 'No pay but Credit' ads I see here.

This is not the film or television business, if you spend the time and effort learning PHP and AJAX and all the other various coding languages needed to do the work many here are asking, one will NOT get to date Wynonna Ryder or even go to the same parties for building your e-commerce site. There are technicians out here who spent years in a cubicle with no life learning what they have. You honestly think someone wants to get 'experience' or 'exposure' for years of experience at a computer screen they already spent the time to get? No, they got that experience to get PAID. The way it looks here, if some poor schmuck takes your offer, they will spend the next year getting 'experience' or 'exposure' so they can go work for free for someone else eventually, this a good deal, really? If you want quality work then PAY for it. Would you want a doctor who works for 'exposure'? a lawyer who works for 'experience'? a cpa who works for beer? If you can not PAY people for their work, then learn to do it yourself or find an investor to cover the costs.
