Junior Software Developer (Berkeley Heights)

Tue, 09/07/2010 - 11:35

Extremely Agile
Maybe you interned in development shop that used Extreme Programming. Maybe you took a course that contrasted Agile with Waterfall. Maybe you stumbled across Scrum and wanted to learn more. Maybe you’ve been doing this for years. No matter where you first encountered Agile, if it piqued your interest, Cyrus Innovation might too. We are a New York based software consulting firm that focuses exclusively on delivering quality software while coaching our clients on the benefits of the Agile approach.

Agile from the Get-Go
Cyrus has been profitable since day one, 7 years ago, with our standout approach to sustainable Agile development. We jumped onto the Inc. 500 list of the fastest growing private companies for 2009 in spot #231. Sounds like we’re huge, but we’re not. Just hugely successful. Precisely because we as developers maximize the time we spend building and shipping software. We work collaboratively with our clients and our team. We pair program. We spend more time coding and less time creating documents. We self-organize; we give each developer the power to make important decisions. We experiment and learn by doing. No kidding.

Go Sane
And how about while you’re going crazy about Agile, also living a sane life? We’re talking 40 hours a week. Really. Getting a quarterly bonus based on company revenues. Plenty of paid time-off for conferences, workshops and stuff. And truly having a say in what your working environment is like.

Are we looking for you? You tell us.
● Are you passionate about coding? Does the thought of working in a true Extreme Programming environment, complete with TDD, Pair Programming, and Continuous Integration fill you with excitement?
● Do you explore the world of programming beyond what’s asked of you in the classroom?
● Do you honor and respect cutting edge open source tools? Like Google Web Toolkit, Spring, JBehave, IntelliJ IDEA, git, Rails, JRuby, Phusion Passenger, Mongrel, Memcache, BackgrounDRb, Cucumber, RSpec, Webrat, and Shoulda?
● Do you have experience with Object Oriented programming? Such as Java, Ruby, Python, C#, C++, Objective C, Smalltalk?
● Are you knowledgeable about design patterns and refactoring?
● Are you able to work full-time in Berkeley Heights, NJ?
● Are you a US Citizen (required, because this position is on-site with a government contractor)

Want to create complex software you’ll be proud of? Quite possibly have a new job locked down within 2 weeks? Be Agile. Shoot us an email with your resume to Glenn Schieck at gschieck@cyrusinnovation.com.
